As you enter the Spa at Wine & Roses you can’t help but forget everything that is happening outside its soothing walls. A warm smile and friendly hello greet you as soon as you walk up to the spa’s front desk. With easy directions to the women’s lockers and Tranquility Room the glass door opens introducing you to what may seem like another world. When we selected the Spa at Wine & Roses and made our appointment we chose to do a Mother, Daughter day at the spa. It proved to be an excellent choice. After being greeted by a friendly staff my Mother and I were directed to a changing area where we adorned our robes and headed off towards the Tranquility Room where fresh water, teas, and fruits await us. From our plush chairs we looked out onto an inviting patio with two waterfalls each leading into a pool. We later learned that one pool was warm and the other was cold. The Tranquility Room is the perfect place to enjoy true peace and quiet. From here we ordered our lunch that would later be served out on the patio. After a few minutes of savoring the tranquility of the room, our highly trained massage therapists entered and directed each of use to our private spa room. For my treatment I received the “Wine & Roses Ultimate Treatment.” Like the beginning of all their treatments my massage therapist Christiane preformed a temple hold and then sprayed the air with rose water. I was given the choice of picking from three soothing fragrances; I chose ginger. She then began lightly massaging the all-natural ginger botanical body scrub into my arms, shoulders, legs, and back. After she had me rinse off I was wrapped in heated blankets that felt like a cocoon. While I was soaking up the warmth of the blankets Christiane used Warren Botanicals Egyptian facial oil and pure rose water to massage into my face, neck, and shoulders. She then wrapped a warm towel around my face. At this point I would not have believed I could be anymore relaxed. Christiane slowly un-wrapped each arm and leg separately and massaged the Ginger Body Butter into them. I couldn’t help but ask if anyone had ever fallen asleep and as I expected she said “all the time.” At the conclusion Christiane preformed the temple hold and spray of the rose water again. I was so relaxed that I wished that this treatment would not end. However, Christiane met me in the Tranquility Room ready with a glass of cold water to hydrate my body. I settled in again to one of their plush chairs, drank my water and sighed with pleasure at how phenomenal this experience was. |
My mother received the “La Stone Treatment.” This treatment consists of 52 stones alternating hot and cold. This treatment is specialized and the therapist who treated her was Jayme Shubert. Jayme began the treatment with the spa’s signature opening. The massage therapist prepared her body with a light massage and wrapping of the blankets. Next, stones are applied on your back and again on your front. The hot stones are placed in specific locations during the deep tissue massage. Also, included are oils and cold stones. “The treatment was incredible, and an hour is never long enough, my muscles have never been as relaxed. That night I slept like a baby.” said my Mother. Jayme is highly trained in a number of massage therapies. “She was very pleasant and made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. In fact, I am going to recommend her for my husbands next visit”, stated my mother. After our treatments we enjoyed a delicious lunch, provided by the restaurant Wine & Roses while sitting next to one of the waterfalls. While sitting at our table we couldn’t help but feel like we were the only people at the spa. The beauty and amenities truly sets this spa apart from others. Anyone who receives services can enjoy the Tranquility Room, outdoor pools, saunas, and locker rooms for as long as they like. For those of you who are fist time spa goers the proper amount to tip is 20%. The specialized massage therapists at the Spa are employees and greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness. If you would like more than a massage you can visit the salon and receive all-natural manicures and pedicures, make up applications, or take advantage of one of the three on call hair stylists. Six years ago, Wine & Roses began featuring two treatments rooms known as “The Petite Spa.” Now it has blossomed into not just a spa but also a Wellness Center focusing on all-natural non-evasive treatments. The architect, Mike Donaldson and Designer Judy Schultz used the Oberge de Sole Spa in St. Helena as an inspiration. Together they chose to use the elements of that establishment to make this spa seem as much a part of nature as possible giving it a very intimate feeling. The Spas Director Joline says, “It’s the quality and customer service that puts the spa over the top.” All of the therapist’s are hand selected and boasts of having two male massage therapists. Even men have a place here; the Gentleman’s Retreat offers everything from manicures and facials to “The Gentleman’s Experience.” The spa offers the feeling of wellness, healing, tranquility, and serenity.
