This quaint Bed & Breakfast is easy to locate on Highway 49 just a short drive from Sacramento, Stockton or from the Bay Area. I suggest you prepare your overnight bag and hasten to this destination as I did to begin your own appointment with luxurious leisure. Let me introduce you to the owners of The Foxes Inn, Mike and Monique Graziadei along with their daughter Morgan. This exceptional family is dedicated to the task of making your visit a memorable one. You can expect to be nurtured, pampered and best of all you may discover that things just happen to be at your fingertips long before you even thought of having to request them. The owners and staff go to great length to provide a space of luxury and comfort constantly thinking ahead so you can recharge your batteries while someone else deals with the details.
Morgan, at the ripe old age of eleven, makes incredible homemade lemonade that she eagerly shares with guests. I enjoyed this treat as it quenched my parched palette. As I sipped on my lemonade, I could not resist the idea of what an 1850’s traveler to the gold country must have felt upon being served a cold beverage. Speaking of the 1850’s, the history of the inn dates to 1857 when it was known as “The Brinn House”. Since that time it has undergone substantial changes and today exhibits six beautiful guest room accommodations. Three rooms are located in the Carriage House, four of the rooms have private entrances and three rooms are located in the main house offering a variety of privacy choices. Here is an introduction to some of the rooms beginning with the extraordinary Victorian Suite -A romantic upstairs suite with breakfast room, library and fireplace, built in music system, very spacious bath with old-fashioned claw foot tub and a separate shower. Anniversary Room - Light and spacious upstairs room, cathedral ceiling, built in music system, TV, VCR, very spacious bath with old-fashioned claw foot tub and separate shower. Honeymoon Suite – Very spacious downstairs room, fireplace, sitting area, and bath with old-fashioned claw foot tub and separate shower, TV, VCR & CD player and Private entry. My wife and I spent our visit in the Anniversary Room. We found it to be superb. In this room and throughout the other rooms in the inn there are many subtle comforts. For instance, the sheets on our bed were made of Egyptian cotton with a 1,200-thread count. A count so high that they are hand pressed with each use. Turkish cotton towels that are so soft you may not want to put them down. An old-fashioned claw bath that has plenty of room for two and I might add the bath accoutrements are of the highest quality. The shower area is a walk-in tile shower with an elevated head on a swivel that makes for a magnificent shower experience especially if you are a tall person. Also provided are a lighted make up mirror, hairdryers, lavish robes and more. All accommodations include a bountiful, full breakfast served to each room or in the gazebo (Weather permitting). Best of all you can customize your gourmet breakfast. Select from the menu, select a time and place and your breakfast will be served. Coffee or tea silver service adds a special touch of elegance. In the parlor you will notice a beautiful black Baby Grand Piano that adds to the ambience that as Monique describes; “is an 1857 farmhouse decorated with a Victorian style, yet is fresh and updated.” In the parlor you can also sit and enjoy warm chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cookies or other delights with coffee or tea. For those of you who need computer access, this B&B provides wireless opportunities throughout the inn. If you are looking for activities they abound. Wine Tasting, Dining, Theater, historic gold mines, caverns, skiing, hiking and much more can be found in this magazine or just ask any of the staff and they will be happy to direct you. The staff at the Foxes Inn is terrific and Florence Berry, Head of Housekeeping, Kimberly Archuleta, Innkeeper Assistant and Rhiannon Helford along with Jean Bardsley are there to make your stay the very best. If you come to the inn distraught by the turmoil of the world, my guess is that you will leave with a smile, relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to go another round with the world. Then you too can tell a friend about a destination filled with tranquility, serenity, history, romance and picturesque qualities. With the holidays quickly approaching, you may already be feeling the twinge of stress that seems to manifest itself at this time of year. Wouldn’t it be fabulous, if you could just pack your overnight bag and escape to a place where words like tranquility and serenity are the norm and stress disappears rapidly like leaves falling effortlessly from a tree?
The Graziadei’s purchased the Bed & Breakfast in July of this year and their goal is to nurture and take care of each and everyone of their guests that come to visit.
Mike and Monique are very skilled in the nuances of hospitality and knowledgeable in the ways of preparing the comforts to accommodate even the most discriminating traveler. This couple hails from corporate backgrounds and has important scholastic accomplishments on their resumes. After an extensive search for B & B’s they chose The Foxes Inn of Sutter Creek because it is a terrific property, surrounded by an ingratiating community and is a wonderful place to raise their daughter.
